Windhoek — The first of its kind beauty pageant in Ondangwa 'Miss DHP North Side 2012' is in full gear.
Hosted by the DHP Entertainment, it takes place on December 8 at the Oluno Community Hall in Ondangwa. The organiser of this beauty pageant, Peya Mushelenga, says the first of its kind, it is being supported by various sponsors. The idea is to pay tribute to their hometown, Ondangwa, with a massive event which consists of musical performances and a beauty pageant.
"We collectively built ideas and decided to give it a try, whether it's going to work or not. We believe in faith, and we just hope this will be the best event in the north, this coming December," says Mushelenga.
According to him , preparations and the programme of the event is going well and they have already started selling tickets from the beginning of this month and the event posters are all over the country by now. The pageant includes many activities taking place the day before the pageant and on the actual day. Some activities on the day before the event on December 7 is a Braai (barbecue) and a bikini carwash at Ondangwa Facebook while the actual day of the pageant, December 8, starts with a charity work at SOS Home in Ondangwa followed by a dancing competition for guys and girls. The two lucky winners will walk away with CDs (demo album) of the DHP crew.
"Regarding the models, certainly this event will not only find or recognise young modeling talents but also help to build a platform for them as it will add value to their modeling history," "We will have plenty of performances ranging from local underground artists to big dogs in the Namibian industry, the likes of Unit Squad, LBHT, BKBs, Blackdice, DHP and the Yaziza self-proclaimed king of lyrics, Sunny Boy. We majorly included the underground artists in the hope that they build their platform in the music industry," says Mushelenga. He adds that they expect the event to be a massive and successful as they feel it will attract a lot of people country wide. "As for the audience's services, I do not want to say much about it, just make sure everyone make your ways in Ondangwa since it's going to be a non-miss event.
The slogan for Miss DHP NORTHSIDE 2012 is "having moved a step forward", which clearly shows that DHP have moved a step up to this year's event in order for it to be a bigger and certainly better event.
