Gambia: Lady Docked for Threatening Violence

One Fatou Konta, Thursday appeared before Principal Magistrate Sheriff Tabally of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court for the offence of threatening violence contrary to Section 48 of the Criminal Code, Laws of The Gambia 2009.

The particulars of offence stated that sometime in the month of September 2012 at Fajara M. Section in the Kanifing Municipality, the accused with the intent to annoy, intimidate or insult, threatened to kill Ms Murida Sanyang with a knife, thereby committed an offence.

When the charge was read to her she pleaded not guilty and the prosecution led by Cadet Inspector Camara applied for an adjournment to call his witness to testify in the next adjournment date. Meanwhile the accused was granted bail in the sum of D50, 000 with one Gambian surety.

Hearing continues on December 10th, 2012.
