Nigeria: Delta Govt. Disburses N30 Million to Children of Deceased Civil Servants, Disabled Students

The Delta Government on Thursday in Asaba, disbursed about N30 million to 403 children of deceased civil servants and 101 students with physical disabilities.

The Chairman of the state Scholarship Board, Monsignor Buchi Aninye, said that the government had so far disbursed N71 million.

Aninye said that a total of 1,233 children of deceased civil servants and 346 physically challenged students had so far benefited from the scheme.

He said that the aim of the scheme was to ease the burden of the beneficiaries and their families as well as to encourage them to focus on their academic pursuits.

In his remarks, Prof. Hope Eghagha, the Commissioner for Higher Education said that the government would not relent in disbursing the funds meant for its human capital development.

Eghagha advised the persons with disabilities to be resolute in their personal goals as they could rise above their present situation and succeed in life.

He advised all beneficiaries to make the best use of their resources. (NAN)
