Black Rhinos Queens would be crowned champions of the Marange Resources National Women's Soccer League this afternoon if they beat Conduit Soccer Academy at Madhodha in Guruve.
The army side's victory today will see them take their points tally to 44 before they host Chipembere Queens at One Commando in their last match of the season next Wednesday as the curtain comes down on the Super League. Rhinos, have lost one match so far, when they went down to Flame Lily but it seems there is no denying them the title today when they face seventh-placed Cosa in their backyard.
Yesterday, Black Rhinos coach Thomas Chinyan'anya, said he would rest his senior players.
"If we win this match we will be the champions and we are expecting to do just that. We will use other players who have not been getting game time and will rest the senior players such as Rutendo Makore, Kuda Basopo, Patience Mujuru, Viola Ndlovu and Rufaro Machingura. The girls deserve to win the league as they worked hard for it. We dropped points against Inline Academy and New Orleans in the first half when we had draws but in the second round we rectified our problems with scoring and managed to beat these teams with big margins. "Last season we finished the season without a defeat and won the league but this time around we lost once and we are not expecting to lose our last two matches.
"The competition has been tough but we were prepared and did well against all the big teams," said Chinyan'anya.
Women's Soccer administrator Theresa Maguraushe yesterday said there were no arrangements in place to present Rhinos with their trophy should they win today.
"Our league ends on December 5 and the team which wins the league would be presented with the trophy on that day. If it Black Rhinos, then they would be presented in their home match against Chipembere and if it is Mufakose Queens they would be given at their home match against Faith Drive.
However, all the clubs are expected to send representatives on Wednesday to Harare so that after the matches all the teams would be presented with their prize money at a brief function at a local hotel," said Maguraushe.
