Kenya: Two Deny Attempting to Rob Officer of His Gun

TWO men were yesterday charged in a Mombasa court for attempting to violently rob a police officer of his firearm in Saba Saba, Mombasa.

Hassan Abdalla and Ahmed Mwasi pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court heard that the two, with others not before the court, allegedly attempted to violently rob police constable Benson Njagi of his Taurus pistol on November 27.

Mombasa's principle magistrate Elvis Michieka directed the two to be remanded at Shimo la Tewa prison pending the hearing of their case on January 18.

Mwasi said he was shot in the neck and asked the court to allow him to seek treatment before he is remanded.
