Uganda: We Have 500 Phd Staff to Handle Research Issues - Prof Ddumba

The Vice Chancellor Prof John Ssentamu Ddumba says Makerere University has the highest number of staff with PhDs in Uganda.

He adds that every Senior Lecturer at Makerere University must have a PhD and currently, we have over 500 members of staff with PhDs adding that the number of PhD holders in Makerere has steadily increased across all Colleges.

Prof ddumba says the initiative is to develop a strategic plan that provides a direction to reposition Makerere into a research driven university where research, teaching and learning are mutually reinforcing.

He says that the University has also elevated the School of Graduate Studies into a Directorate of Research and Graduate Training, which provides the required structures to effectively provide leadership in research and innovations in the University.
