Egypt Assuming Back Leading Role

Egypt has recently been the focus of the spotlight and assuming once again its leading regional and international role after it had brokered a ceasefire between Palestinian movement Hamas and Israel, said Egypt's Ambassador to the United States Mohamed Tawfiq.

This was just a step for the comeback of Egypt, which enjoys regional acceptance allowing it to work on achieving more stability in the region, Tawfiq said during a meeting organized by the National US-Arab Chamber of Commerce and the Egyptian trade representation office in Washington.

The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and the US during the first nine months of 2012 rose to $10 billion against $8 billion in the same period in 2011, he said.
