Kenya: Woman On Suicide Bid Charge

A woman was yesterday charged with attempted suicide at a Mombasa court.

She is alleged to have told her four year old to jump into the ocean in a bid to end their lives.

Muganga denied the charges saying she could not recollect what happened on the day.

Senior resident magistrate SK Gacheru released her on a Sh30, 000 bond with a similar surety.

The case will be heard on January 7.

Accompanied by her two daughters including a breast feeding toddler, the suspect told the court she was not of sane mind at the time of the incidence.

"Nilikua naskia nikama kichwa kinanitoroka (I felt as if I was running mad)" mercy said when her charges were read.
