Kenya: Sarah Mitaru - Why I Do One Gig a Year!

Afro Soul singer Sara Mitaru will be hosting a solo gig on December 8 at the Louise Leakey auditorium to showcase her music for a limited number of tickets.

Sarah told Word is, "I only do one gig a year. That gives me a whole year to surprise my audience, this year my back up singers who I performed with in the US will be flying in for the show, as well as part of my band - for that international appeal.

"I want the audience to feel as if they are seated in New York or London at a world standard show. On stage with me will be Jaimie Coryn one of my singers who recently shared a stage with Lala Hathaway and Bilal. I will also have Wambura Mitaru who needs no introduction to the Kenyan market as Africa's Berklee scholar. So expect the kind of show that you only get to see once a year. World standard."

Sarah just jetted back from the US where she had a show in New York "at the Dona Karan studios with top notch dignitaries like world class designer Dona Karan herself being at the gig. Its great to put Kenyan music on the map on a global scale. I'm grateful to God for the opportunity," she said.
