Nigeria: Eight Medals From Lagos Judo Team, Not Bad - Oshodi

Mr Enitan Oshodi, the Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development in Lagos State, yesterday commended the state judo team who clinched the Silver medal at the overall medal table.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Team Lagos got three gold, three silver and two bronze medals.

Oshodi told NAN at the closing ceremony of the judo event of the 18th National Sports Festival (NSF) that the total of eight medals at the event was a good achievement for the state.

"I tell people that with the young team that we have, we are very proud of the achievement, we had hoped for at least six gold medals.

"This is a very good outing for us considering the experience we had in Rivers NSF where we really did not do well.

"The Lagos Judo Association has done a fantastic job, so far so good, I have to give kudos to Judo Federation of Nigeria (JFN) for good organisation," he said.

Oshodi expressed optimism that Lagos State would move up the medal table, saying he had confidence in the contingents.

NAN reports that Team Delta topped the table with four gold and five bronze medals, Team Lagos came second with three gold, three silver and two bronze medals.

Edo came third with three gold, two silver and two bronze medals, Team Rivers came fourth with two gold, two silver and four bronze.

Team Niger came fifth with one gold, two silver and four bronze while Team Kogi came sixth with one gold and one bronze.
