Zimbabwe: ACCC Push Off in Byo

Hippo Valley opened their Africa Cup of Club Champions hockey tournament account with a 2-1 win over compatriots Hullets at Khumalo Hockey Stadium yesterday.

Seven men teams and six women teams from across Africa's hockey-playing nations are taking part in the week-long tournament which ends on Saturday.

Proceedings started at midday with a Ghanaian duel as Trustees Hockey Club edged Golden Sticks 3-2 in the men's opener while Kenya's Telkom Orange and Strathmore University settled for a 1-1 draw in the women's section.

In the late push offs, Zimbabwe's Bulawayo Athletic Club was expected to face Heartland Queens from Nigeria in the women's section while Yobe Warriors and Niger Flickers battle in a men's Nigerian affair.
