Morocco: Spanish MP Urges Government to Support Western Sahara's Membership At UN

Madrid — The Spanish Deputy from the Compromis-Equo Coalition Mr. Joan Baldoví has called on the Government of his country, led by Mariano Rajoy, to work in order that Western Sahara becomes UN member, similar to what occurred with the State of Palestine on Thursday.

In a statement published Friday by Europa Press News Agency, Mr. Baldovi said "we want the UN to adopt a similar decision similar to that taken on Thursday with regard to the state of Palestine", considering that "a way in the recognition of Saharawi state at the UN level."

"The international community did forget the Saharawis, who continue to live a drama caused by an atrocious invasion by Morocco, which continues to this day torture and murdering and violation of basic human rights," he added.

The Spanish PM called on his Government, led by Popular Party, to work internationally to ensure that the UN assumes its responsibility to administer the territory of Western Sahara until a legal and fair referendum on self-determination is conducted.
