Nigeria: Robbers Kill Kano Salesman

Armed robbers shot dead a shop attendant and seized undisclosed amount of money during an attack on a mattress store on Ibrahim Taiwo Road on Thursday.

The robbery was carried out around 5pm by four men riding motorcycles, police said.

Kano Police Command spokesperson ASP Musa Magaji Majia said the robbers quietly sneaked into one of the shops located in the area and shot dead a shop attendant before carting away the money.

He said the incident was reported to the police after the robbers had fled.

Recently, suspected armed robbers attacked Wapa bureau de change located near the area, killing one person and carting away over N70million.

In a related development, bomb scare sent residents of Haye area of Kano fleeing their homes on Thursday, Weekly Trust gathered.

Residents said the fear was sparked when relations of a trader who was shot dead five days earlier by gunmen came to evacuate his property, which neighbours mistook for an attempt to plant a bomb in order to avenge the killing.

Hundreds of women reportedly left their houses, fearing they could be attacked.
