Rwanda: Gasongo Signs for Qatari Club an-Aghallfa Sports Club

Vincent Dusabimana a.k.a Gasongo has signed a two-year-deal with Qatari first division volleyball club An-Aghallfa Sports Club for undisclosed fee, Times Sport reports.

The former Blue Tigers and National University of Rwanda player has been undergoing trials for the past three weeks after impressing during warm-up matches. An-Aghallfa Sports Club finally offered him a contract. The Qatari league is slated to begin on December 5.

Gasongo joins fellow Rwandans Christophe Mukunzi and Placide 'Madison' Sibomana, who play for Al-Arabi Sports Club. Gasongo signed for An-Aghallfa Sports Club from Etoile Sportive de Setif where he played last season, while former Kigali Volleyball player Mukunzi was with USM Alger, both in the Algerian first division.

Former national team Brazilian coach Paulo de Tarsio was instrumental in the transfer from Algeria to Qatar of national team captain Christopher Mukunzi and former Groupe Scolaire and Nyanza Volleyball player Sibomana.

Other Rwandan professional players include Lawrence Yakan Guma, who features for Algeria first division Etoile Sportive de Setif, Elie Mutabazi (France second division) and Jean de Dieu Uwimana based in Belgium.
