Kenya: Former Bishop Hits Out At MPs

Former Anglican Church of Kenya bishop Peter Njenga yesterday lashed out at parliamentarians for "doing nothing".

Speaking at the burial of former Limuru Municipal Council chairman Ndung'u Kimucu, Bishop Njenga said MPs have not been able to address historical injustices.

"Sometimes we ask ourselves what you talk about in Parliament. We saw you just the other day talking about the mashujaa. I was totally flabbergasted that those who are being asked to write down the names [of local heroes], especially the Ngecha representative, is younger than me," said Njenga.

Present at the funeral were Limuru MP Peter Mwathi, his Githunguri counterpart Njoroge Baiya, and Limuru aspirant Kiragu Chege who were not allowed to address the mourners.
