Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr Sam Amadi, has denied plans to review any aspect of the newly introduced electricity tariffs downward.

Speaking to newsmen at the Gas to Power conference organized by the commission in collaboration with the USAID in Lagos, Amadi said the issue of downward review of the tariff was uncalled for given that the new tariff regime came into force less than six months ago.

A commissioner at the NERC was recently quoted as saying that the commission had started the process of reviewing downward the tariff dubbed the Multi Year Tariff Order (MYTO) II to be more favourable to small scale businesses.
