Nigeria: Jumbo-Ofo - Group Seeks Amendment of Establishment Act

Following the controversy, which trailed the appointment of Justice Adaora Jombo-Ofo, as judge of the Court of Appeal, a group, the National Association of Seadogs (NAS) has called on the National Assembly to amend the Establishment Act as it contradicts Section 42 of the 1999 Constitution.

A statement issued in Calabar, entitled: "The recent appointment of Justice Jombo-Ofo to the Court of Appeal and the Issue of National Integration" and signed by its president, Ide Owodiong-Idemeko, the group said the Establishment Act, which the petitioners used against the appointment and swearing-in of Justice Jombo-Ofo run contrary to the provisions of the 1999 Constitution as amended and should be amended in national interest.
