Angola: Paternity Denial Stands Out Among Domestic Violence Cases

Icolo E Bengo — The Luanda provincial director for family issues and promotion of women, Antónia Ferreira Marcelina, has said in Icolo e Bengo Municipality that when it comes to domestic violence, the cases of paternity denial were more frequent throughout this year.

The official said so in the ambit of the 16-day campaign dubbed "A life without violence is women's right", which started on November 25.

According to her, domestic violence cases in Luanda have been increasing, adding that in the first semester of the current year her institution recorded one to two cases per day and in the second semester the average was five cases per day.

According to Antónia Marcelina, parents must not stop providing assistance to their children.

The 16-day campaign will end on December 10.
