Gambia: Abdou Ceesay Wins Modou Faal Memorial Draught Tourney

The first ever edition of the Modou Faal Memorial Draught Championship was held at the St Joseph's Senior Secondary School in Banjul. The competition was organised by the Gambia National Draught Association.

The three-day championship which came to an end on the 18th of November was won by Alieu Ceesay of the Dobson Club. He was given a trophy and a cash prize of D6,000, as well as a certificate for his participation.

Pa Bojang also of the Dobson Club came second and went home with a certificate and D4,000 while Sulayman Norman finished third and went home with a consolation prize of D2,000 and a certificate. Arona Jeng of the July 22nd Club came fourth and received D1,500 and a certificate. Consolation prizes amounting to D3,000 were also given to four other competitors.

Present at the closing ceremony was the President of the Normalisation Committee of the Gambia Football Association, OB Conateh; the chairman of the National Sports Council, Sulayman Bun Njie; the Modou Faal family; and draught authorities amongst others. Forty-two participants entered the competition.
