Sokoto — President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday warned universities in the country against misappropriation of funds and non-performance. He gave the warning at the 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st convocation ceremony of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, UDUS.

The president, who was represented by Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Julius Okojie, said his administration places high premium on probity and accountability.

He underscored the importance of education in the transformation of the nation and assured that the federal government would continue to support all the tertiary institutions in the discharge of their mandate for national progress. Vice Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, Professor Riskuwa Arabo Shehu said the convocation was unique as it came just after the publication of the results of the first ever nationwide institutional accreditation exercise conducted by NUC which adjudged the university along with others, as the best in the country.
