Nu Metro Cinemas recently entered into an agreement to acquire Movies@Woodlands, the successful independent cinema complex in the upmarket area of Pretoria East. As of Friday, 30 November 2012, Woodlands started trading under the Nu Metro Cinemas brand. The acquisition of this cineplex will further enhance Nu Metro's diverse footprint in South Africa.

Content & marketing executive of Nu Metro Cinemas Mark Harris said, "We bring a non-formulaic approach to cinema, with numerous exciting customer propositions. This is evidenced in Nu Metro Cinemas holding five of the top 10 cineplexes in the country, namely V&A Waterfront and Canal Walk in Cape Town, The Pavilion in Durban, Montecasino in Johannesburg and Menlyn Park in Pretoria."
