Police in Manyara Region have arrested a resident of Arusha allegedly for being a high-flying drug dealer. Reports say he was found in possession of 30 capsules of heroine.
The suspect was arrested during a routine police patrol led by Inspector Naftali Mnzava last week in Block 'D' of Tanzanite Mines, in Mererani in Simanjiro District, Manyara Region.
Manyara Regional Police Commander, Mr. Akili Mpwapwa revealed the name of the suspect as Albert Gift (29), a resident of Arusha City.
He said that it has been alleged that Gift conducted his illegal business in Mombasa and Nairobi in Kenya, Kampala in Uganda and also frequents to Zambia.
Mr. Mpwapwa said that Albert was found possessing a passport and selling drugs at Tanzanite mines in Mererani Township.
"The Police of Mererani have succeeded to arrest the suspect and he has been held for further interrogation. He will be taken to the court soon after the investigation is completed," said Mr. Mpwapwa.
