Kenya: FKF Annul South Coast Mini League

MOMBASA Polytechnic University College were crowned the 2012 South Coast branch Provincial mini league champions after beating Super Eagles in penalty shoot-out 4-2 after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Mombasa Polytechnic took the lead through Nicodemus Odipo, barely 15 minutes into the match but the Changamwe-based Eagles equalised with only three minutes to the final whistle through Edwin Juma to take the game into penalty shoot-out.

Eagles equaliser was as a result of coach Zabolo Odera changes, which saw him bring in Cyrus Opondo for Said Mwika, who coordinated well with Juma, shifting the balance of the game to their side.

Mombasa Polytechnic converted their penalties through Jiso Abwata, Brian Ochieng, Ted Nivian and Omar Mae. Mombasa-based Star reporter Brian Otieno send Eagles to the runners-up position alongside Dominic Ouko and Ndute Ndambuki who converted their flicks. Winners received Sh20,000 while runners-up took home Sh15,000 and trophies.

On their way to the finals Mombasa Polytechnic drubbed Shanzu United 2-1 in first semi while Super Eagles saw off Nacet 4-3 from Ukunda in the second semi-final.
