Dutse — A total of 17,679 students from Jigawa State studying at various institutions of higher learning across the country and abroad benefited from the N880 million scholarship grants disbursed this year by the state government, Executive Secretary for the state scholarship board Alhaji Babandi Abubakar said in Dutse yesterday.
Abubakar also said the provision of tuition fees, resident permit and accommodation for those studying abroad has already been taken care of. Currently, he said, a total of 10 students from state are pursuing their Master's degrees in the United Kingdom and another 48 students are now in Egypt studying medicine.
Of the students studying at home, a total of 2798 were female, saying the batch 3 students expected to go for further studies abroad will soon be screened to study medicine ,engineering and other related science subjects in January next year.
He thanked the state government for the support given to all students studying at high institutions of learning across the country.
