Egypt: VP - Morsi Keen On Judiciary's Independence

Vice-President Mahmoud Mekki on Sunday 2/12/2012 underscored President Mohamed Morsi's keenness on the independence of the judiciary.

Morsi vowed not to abuse the constitutional declaration or overstep the judicial power, Mekki told the Egyptian television.

The constitutional declaration aims to distance the judiciary from political turmoil, Mekki said, noting that the declaration would expire in 13 days.

Mekki unveiled his personal concerns over some of the declaration's articles. However, Mekki said that Morsi has assured him that he would not misuse the articles in the declaration.
