Ghana: Special Voting Set to Take Place Tomorrow

As per the arrangements stipulated in the Constitutional Instrument (CI) 72, security personnel and election officials will cast their vote tomorrow Tuesday December 4, 2012, to enable them effectively execute their duties on the day of the general elections on 7th December 2012.

According to the Acting Public Relations Officer at the EC, Mr. Owusu Parry, "the exercise will be limited to only those who have applied to take part in the special voting and so far the groups includes officials of the Commission and security agencies, these are the two groups that would be allowed for the special voting which means Journalists will not take part in this exercise but can observe the exercise with an accreditation card provided by the EC".

The exercise will start at 7am and end at 5pm in all 275 constituencies across the country. Every constituency will have one special voting center with a special voters list for the two groups.

According to Mr. Parry, election materials have been sent to all districts for the two groups to cast their ballot tomorrow, and that distribution for the December 7 polls is ongoing till every polling station receives ballot papers in order for the election to be conducted under a free, fair and transparent manner.
