Namibia: NSA Holds Swim Gala for Beginners

THE Namib Swimming Academy recently held its first Learn-to-Swim gala at their pool in Kleine Kuppe.

A hundred and twenty children participated in the gala, with ages ranging from four to 12.

It was a fun-filled family event where parents witnessed the progress that their children were making.

The main aim of the Learn-to-Swim event was to introduce new swimmers to gala events in a way that they felt no pressure to win, but rather to have fun, thus the children were not judged on their speed but on their swimming ability.

“We want to encourage people of all ages to take up swimming as it is a necessary life skill, apart from all the other benefits that one can enjoy,” said NSA office administrator Jane Meyer.

“We would like to give thanks to our main sponsor, Standard Bank, without which this event would not have been such a huge success.”
