Namibia: Murder, Assault, Suicide Mar Weekend

AN unidentified man died in the Katutura State Hospital on Sunday morning after he was stabbed with a knife in the Hakahana area of Katutura.

The incident happened at about 01h00 on Sunday.

Deputy Commissioner Silvanus Nghishidimbwa said a 29-year-old suspect was arrested. He was expected to appear in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder yesterday.

At about 15h00 on Saturday, David Kambonde (30) committed suicide in the Ombili location.

Nghishidimbwa said he did not leave a suicide note.

A 17-year-old boy, Jeremia Kharuxab, committed suicide at the farm Nautabis near Dordabis at 19h30 on Saturday.

According to Nghishidimbwa, the teenager had a fight with his brother-in-law during which he stabbed his brother-in-law in the hand with a knife.

A total of 12 people were seriously assaulted in Wanaheda alone over the weekend. Seven cases of common assault and eight of assault by threat were also reported, Nghishidimbwa said. “It was just blood and all of this was alcohol related.”
