Nigeria: Sacked Shell Workers - NUPENG, Pengassan Plan Joint Strike

Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association (PENGASSAN) yesterday indicated its willingness to join the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) to protest against Shell's refusal to recall sacked NUPENG members.

A statement by PENGASSAN spokesman Zaid Kolawole said the refusal to recall the workers violated Labour Minister Emeka Wogu's directive for the workers to be recalled.

Kolawole said the solidarity was to ensure that Shell management complies with the minister's directive.

The Minister had during a mediation meeting between NUPENG and Shell directed Shell to recall the sacked workers on or before December 4.
