Somalia: Heavy Fighting Erupts in a Town Outside Mogadishu,Somali Capital

Balad — A heavy fighting between Somali forces and Al shabab has again erupted on Tuesday at locations near Qalimow town just outside Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, reports said.

The combat flared up in the early hours of Tuesday when al shabab attacked military bases controlled by Somali troops near Jowhar, the capital of Middle Shabelle region, killing 4 people, according to the local residents.

Military officials say Somali forces managed to fend off the militant attack on their bases near Qalimow neighborhood and killed at least 13 combatants during the fighting.

The situation in the area has returned back into normal after the combat subsided, according to the residents who spoke to Shabelle Media Network station by phone.

Al shabab officials have not yet comments on the attack and the military claims.
