Gambia: Serekunda East Beat Serekunda West in Super Nawettan Opener

The Serekunda East football team Sunday defeated Serekunda West 1-0 in the opening game of the 2012 edition of the Super Nawettan Championship. The win ensured Eastbi secured their second win over West in as many games after a 2-0 win in their last meeting.

Ebou Sanyang scored the only goal of the match off a remarkable cross from Omar Ndong in the 57th minute of the second half. Aziz Mendy had a great opportunity to equalise for his side but Eastbi goalkeeper Baboucarr Saho was there to avert the danger.

Speaking shortly after the match, the head coach of the Serekunda West zonal team, Badou Ceesay, said his side played very well having prepared well in earnest but weren't lucky to secure the win.

For his part, the head coach of Serekunda East zonal team, Lamin Dugal Jammeh, saidtheir target is to reclaim the title they surrendered to Lamin last year.
