Egypt: PM - Providing Water, Drainage Services to Achieve Social Justice

Providing drinking water and drainage services is an important means to achieve social justice among the people, one of the main demands of the January revolution, said Prime Minister Hisham Qandil.

For this reason, the ministry for drinking water and drainage will be established, Qandil said at the opening of the second international conference on drinking water and drainage in a speech given on his behalf by Local Development Minister Ahmed Zaki Abdeen.

Ninety-seven per cent of the population in Egypt has access to drinking water and 50% to drainage services, a figure expected to increase after 10 years, he said.
