Egypt: Mahsoub - No One Can Amend, Add Article to Draft Constitution

Minister of State for Legal Affairs and Parliamentary Councils Mohammad Mahsoub said on Monday 3/12/2012 that no one can amend, change or add any article in the final draft Constitution, whether he is a member in the Constituent Assembly or President of the Republic.

He added that Article 60 of the Constitutional Declaration committed the Constituent Assembly to complete the draft constitution and voting on it, and once finished no one has the right to modify it in any way.

Mahsoub said that President of the Republic can only invite people to a referendum in a period not exceeding 15 days from the date of receiving the draft constitution.
