The Liberia Democratic Institute (LDI) has called on President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to commission a "multi-stakeholder platform" before implementing the proposed reshuffle, restructure and dismissal in government. It can be recalled that few months ago, President Johnson-Sirleaf through Presidential Spokesman Jerelimek Piah announced that the government would be restructured and reshuffled in order to promote efficiency and effectiveness.

According to LDI Acting Executive Director, Mr. Harold Aidoo, the platform must be commissioned in order to 'appraise the performance of all government ministries and agencies.' He said this should be done in line with separate performance bonds signed by appointed government officials.

He noted that the institute was concerned about 'the results of the various performance bonds signed by presidential appointees with similar objective of promoting effectiveness and efficiency in governance.' The acting LDI boss made these comments recently at a news conference held in Monrovia.

Mr. Aidoo stated that the "platform should be set up and findings from it be made available to the public before the Liberian leader proceeds with her reshuffle plan." He added that the President's announced reshuffle and restructuring in government will be another "business as usual" where presidential muscle and power is exercised to the core if the platform is not commissioned .
