Liberia: Ellen's Visit to Belle Yalla Postponed Due to Road Conditions

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf's visit to Belle Yalla has been postponed, due to road conditions. The visit will now form a part of Liberia's 166th Independence celebrations to be jointly hosted by Bomi, Gbarpolu and Grand Cape Mount Counties. According to an Executive Mansion release, the President was advised by the Ministry of Public Works that, due to the heavy rains - an effect of climate change - the road to Belle Yalla is still under construction.

Postponement of the President's visit will afford Public Works the time to complete the Belle Yalla road that will now be dedicated during the 2013 celebrations. President Sirleaf is encouraging and calling on all citizens of the county to join in the preparations that will ensure a development-based celebration of Liberia's 166th independence anniversary in Gbarpolu and the other two counties.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. Blamo Nelson, will pay an information-sharing visit to the county before the holidays.
