THE staff and members of the Live It! Health & Fitness Club took to the streets of Swakopmund last month, together with their dogs, to raise funds for the local SPCA.
With the festive season ahead, the SPCA is normally faced with a shortage of blankets, animal food, and cash to take care of all the extra animals they normally have to take off the streets in this time of year.
The annual fundraiser was well supported, not only by the large group of people who participated, but also the response of the members of the public approached for donations along the way.
In total, two trolley loads of blankets, food, leashes and other useful items were collected, and close to N$1 500 in cash.
“This has now become an annual event, and with the new club opening early next year, we will certainly grow this initiative to continue to assist our town’s SPCA for the valuable work they do in helping the animals of Swakopmund,” said Live It! Health & Fitness Club owner Charmaine Smit Snyman.
