Somalia: Somali President Flies to Turkey,First Visit Outside Africa

Mogadishu — Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the newly inaugurated president of the fledgling Federal Republic government arrived in Istanbul, Turkish capital, first visit outside African continent since his election last September 10 by the MPs in Mogadishu.

Certain ministers in the cabinet, including Foreign and defence are accompanying with the president on his state visit in Turkey on Tuesday. It is unclear how many days the president will stay in Turkey.

A source at the presidency office in Mogadishu was quoted as saying Mr.Mohamud's departure for Istanbul followed an official invitation from Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
