Gospel singer SK Blue launched Sakata Mobi, an SMS service for his company, Sakata Media on Saturday backed by gospel musicians.

SK said at the unveiling, "This is the time to evolve from audio production to video. The next step is Sakata Mobi. "The new product is a PRSP entity that will sell ringtones, provide short code services and bulk SMS services."

The service will offer download services for music by the 50 artistes signed to the service and personalised SMS messages to fans from the artistes.

He said the service is different from others in the markets because they will be providing the artistes a schedule for downloads, to allow for accountability and transparency.

"Let's talk biz, let's talk money. Life ought to make economic sense. The reason we have gone gospel is because we are passionate about the genre and we also know the challenges you all go through as musicians to get your content out there and get paid for it," SK added addressing the artistes at the launch.

Seth Mureithi the software developer said, "Sakata Mobi will be running on android. It will have capabilities of streaming videos signed to the service and they cannot be downloaded using download helpers."
