Kenya: Nyeri Police 'Undress and Steals Doors Beat Up IDPs'

FOUR Nyeri IDPs were yesterday arrested by police and later released after they stormed the Central PC's office seeking his audience.

They were roughed up and detained at Nyeri police station for questioning, two of them were seriously injured. The four were among some 300 IDPs seeking audience with Central PC Kiplimo Rugut over their status, led by their co-ordinator Peter Gitahi.

The police officers undressed them, tore their clothes into pieces leaving them half naked, before dragging them on the tarmac road and bundling them into the police car, which drove off towards Kamakwa, witnesses said.
