Angola: Executive Works for Integration of Disabled Persons

Uíge — The secretary of State for Assistance and Social reintegration, Maria da Luz Magalhâes, said that the Government is working for the reintegration of disabled persons and give them more and more rights, Angop learnt.

The official said so on Monday during the central event of the commemorations of the disabled persons day, December 03, adding that since the institutionalisation of the date by the UN, in 1992, the Government has been showing a greater sensitivity to the rights and opportunities of the group.

He added that the Executive has placed the disabled persons in the centre of its priorities, as the country's development can only can be achieved with a successful participation and engagement of all social forces.

The official recalled that the National Assembly (Parliament) approved the adhesion of Angola to the UN Convention on the rights of disabled persons and their respective optional protocol, whose goal is to promote measures for prevention and rehabilitation of those with disabilities and implementation of equality and the full participation of disabled persons in social life towards development.
