Egypt Journalists March to Tahrir Over New Charter

Thousands of Egyptian journalists marched to Tahrir Square on Tuesday in protest against a decree issued by President Mohamed Mursi and a draft constitution written by an Islamist-dominated assembly.

The protesters whose march began at the Journalists' Syndicate chanted against the Muslim Brotherhood's supreme guide.

Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi issued a constitutional decree on November 22 expanding his powers while an Islamist-dominated assembly finished drafting a new charter on Friday allowing it to be put to a referendum on December 15.

Opposition forces organized a "Last Warning" march to Egypt's presidential palace and over 10 Egyptian newspapers went on strike on Tuesday against the decree and draft constitution.
