Nigeria: Abbas Eyes Two Gold Medals in 400 Metres, 4x4 Relays

Team Rivers middle distance runner, Abbas Abubakar Abbas has predicted he would win gold in the 400m final and team up with his colleagues to bag gold in the 4×4 relays.

Abbas who thrilled spectators at the Teslim Balogun Stadium Tuesday in heat 2 of the event told our correspondent that he was sure of the gold medal in the event.

He won the heat in sub 50 but said his personal best was 46.6 secs. "I will win the gold," said Abbas, whose state of birth is Kano.

"I am confident I will improve on my time and will qualify for the final and win the medal ultimately."

Team Rivers Coach, Endurance Ojokolo agrees with him. The former sprinter said, "Abbas will be our own Hussain Bolt.

He is so good. He is going to break the world record one day."
