Nigeria: Bomb Goes Off Near Kano Police Station

Kano — An explosive device was detonated around 7:30 am on Wednesday, near Filin Hockey Police Station off Zoo road in Kano.

Eyewitnesses said the device was planted beneath a street light opposite the police station. The explosion was followed by sounds of gun fire, presumed to have been a response from the police to ward off any potential attack.

An ambulance belonging to the state fire service was seen leaving the scene with two civilians in the back, one laying and clearly gravely injured with a bandage around his head which was supported on the thighs of the other.

The street leading to the site of the explosion was promptly cordoned off.
