Ethiopia: Adama Sacked Two of Its Senior Officials

After hosting the fourth city festival two weeks ago, Adama town upturned its mayors last week. Guta Acharo, mayor of the city and his deputy Sadat Nesha sacked last week. Guta has been mayor of Adama for the last nine months.

The reason behind the dismissal of these two senior officials of the city, however, has not officially notified.

"Except hearsay from the town, I have no official information or official report approval to give in detail regarding why and when the Mayor was sacked,"Tsegaye Tola, head of Adama town government communication affairs told Fortune.

This is the fifth upturn of mayors in the town in the last two years. TolaBerisso(PhD), Alaka Simbiro, Ayele Werku, Guta Acharo had served as mayors of the town since 2009.

Beker Shale, former Commissioner of the Oromia Police Commission, has become the newly appointed Mayor of the town. The deputy mayor is yet to be appointed by the Mayor.
