Ethiopia: Mayor Warned Two Contractors for Failing to Finalise Projects On Time

During his tour with Board of Directors of the Addis Abeba City Roads Authority (AACRA) to evaluate the road construction projects in Addis Abeba last week, the City Mayor Kuma Demeksa warned Hazi II General Construction Trading Company and Midroc Construction for delaying the projects that are on their hand.

Hazi II Construction was accused by the city administration for delaying the 3.3Km long Ayer Tena- Kidanemihret and Alem Bank- YeshiDebelle road projects that was awarded to the company in July 7, 2008. The project was expected to be finalised in June 2010. The Mayor has rebuked Hazii II to rescind the projects if it is not able to manage to complete them withinthe coming six months. The contractor has completed only 57pc of the project.

MidrocEthiopiaconstruction also failed to deliver the construction of road that stretches from City Tip to BisrateGebreal. Midroc completes 10pc of the project to date.
