South Africa: Tight Security At ANC PGC

Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) will be taking a no nonsense approach at the ANC's PGC conference tomorrow. The SAPS will be strictly monitoring and patrolling the area in and around the conference centre. The aim is to ensure peace and stability, with tight crowd control and monitoring of the situation the main activities.

No lawlessness will be in any way tolerated. Non delegates are also advised not to set foot at the conference as they will be arrested immediately. No one will be allowed to the conference centre without accreditation. No dangerous weapons, such as fire-arms, knives, pangas, knopkieries, nail cutters and alcohol will be allowed onto the conference premises as well as surrounding areas.

Security will be skin-tight and delegates are requested to co-operate with members of the SAPS, traffic officials and security guards deployed to perform duties to ensure a peaceful environment.
