Nigeria: Eko 2012 - Osun's Leader of Delegation Dies!

Tragedy struck the Osun State contingent to the ongoing 18th National Sports Festival Tuesday as its leader of delegation, Alhaji Omotayo Yesufu, was confirmed dead.

He is to be buried Wednesday according to Islamic rites.

Chairman of the Osun State Football Association, Taiwo Ogunjobi confirmed Tuesday night that Alhaji Yesufu slumped on hearing the news of the failure of the state's football team to progress to the next round.

Alhaji Yesufu who is also the general manager of the Osun Sports Council, was reported to have been rushed to the Medical Centre before been transferred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja where he was pronounced dead.

"He slumped when told the news of the non qualification of our team for the next round at the venue where he was watching Dambe. He was rushed to the Medical Centre before they took him to LASUTH where he was pronounced dead.

Secretary, Main Organising Committee (MOC), Alhaji Abba Abdullahi Yola, sent his condolences to the Osun contingent on hearing the sad news last night.
