Zambia: Kachingwe-Mumba Inter Parte Hearing Today

THE Lusaka High Court will today hear an inter parte proceeding in which Richard Kachingwe is seeking the nullification of outspoken opposition leader Nevers Mumba's election as MMD president.

Major Kachingwe has also applied for an order of injunction to restrain Dr Mumba from holding himself as MMD president until the matter was disposed of.

The matter will come before High Court Judge-in-Charge Jane Kabuka.

Maj Kachingwe has contended that Dr Mumba was still president of the Reform Party.

He wants the court to quash any instructions and decisions issued by Dr Mumba purporting to expel him from the MMD, saying he has no powers to do so.

He additionally wants the court to stop Dr Mumba from performing or purporting to perform the functions of the party presidency.
