Angola: Best Companies and Managers Get Sirius Award

Luanda — Angolan Investment Bank (BAI) and UNITEL were awarded of best companies of the year in the financial and non financial sector.

These prizes are awarded by the consulting firm Deloite Angolas as the recognition of quality and achievement of strategies and projects, rigor and broader information disclosed by BAI and UNITEL.

In a ceremony that marked the second edition of 2012 Sirius Award, an initiative of Deloitte in partnership with Expansão economic newspaper, it was distinguished the most prestigious institutions and personalities of the Angolan business sector, as well as the respective good practices of management developed along the 2011 by excellence.

In the gala, which took place last Thursday in one of Luanda's hotels, the regional bank of Keve was awarded best company in the category of "Best Report of Management and Accounting", which assesses quality of management and financial information that the entity produces annually about its activity and performance along the previous year.

Odebrecht Angola got the Prize of "Best Social Responsibility Programme, while Sonangol, E.P. was distinguished in the category of "Best Programme of Human Capital Development", which awards the programmes of valorizing the human capital in companies and procurement and promotion of talent.

The CEO of Mining Company of Tocaca, Ganga Júnior, was awarded Best Manager in 2011, due to his work developed along the year as leader of the company.

Manuel João Fonseca, director-geral of Terra do Futuro project, was awarded Entrepreneurship Prize.

Sirius Award was the pioneer in the contest of the recognition of Angola's business class. It is an initiative that rewards managers, firms and organisations as an incentive to the development of the country that is recording an undeniable growth.

Speaking to Angop, Deloite Angola's chairman, Rui Santos, said that he believes that the recognition of good practices contributes to the effective progress and continuous betterment of management.
