Angola: Government to Spend Over Akz 120 Billion in Water Projects

Lubango — The Angolan executive will invest in 2013 more than 120 billion kwanzas in the execution of projects aimed at improving the supply and distribution of potable water in the provinces of Huíla, Huambo, Bié, Kwanza Norte, Malanje, Moxico and Lunda Sul.

The information was given to the press last Tuesday by the national director for waters, Lucrécio Costa, in the end of a meeting he had with the governor of Huila Province, João Marcelino Tyipingi.

Lucrécio Costa also informed that the mentioned amount will be financed by the World Bank, through a credit agreement.

He explained that the money will be used to build water treatment stations, rehabilitate the supply network and make some interventions in home piping system.

He revealed also that the amount will equally enable the creation of new water supply companies in the provinces.

On the other hand, he assured that the rehabilitation project of Lubango City's water supply network, being implemented in partnership with the German company Gauff, will bring about positive results, since it is about replacing the existing deteriorated network.

Lucrécio Costa checked several socioeconomic undertakings in the ambit of his work visit to Huila Province.
